SASSI Trailblazer AWARDS 2019

We all needed a #Monday like that to get us through the week. A bit windy but no rain, no coffee but great wine from Spier Wine Farm coupled with #Sustainablefish and #sushi filling our stomachs as we chatted, laughed and mingled with #WWFSouthAfrica and top Chefs making headlines at this years SASSI Awards.

Our first stop was filling our glasses as we Enjoyed #sauvignonblanc wine from @spierwinefarm, followed by starters of yummy sushi from the ocean. Next up was creamy chilli poppers, crumbed lentil croquettes, prawn croquettes and fish gouns. Dips of hummus, olive tapes, roasted cherry tomatoes, chilli sauce and cheese sauce.  Put all that together with views over Cape Town Waterfront at @harbourhouseza  and you know you in for a great night as excited begins to finding out who the Chefs are that will receive awards! This was the only thing that made the wind bearable, the hot #sassiawards2019 Chefs who make a difference to saving our planet everyday!! Nothing beats that!! Small changes leads to huge success!

We celebrated big bold moves that #SouthAfricanChefs have taken to saving the planet, by the food they serve and the supplier they support. Last night at Harbour House at the Victoria and Alfred #Waterfront we were invited to celebrate the #SassiAwards2019 #TrailblazerChefs who only use #sustainableseafood dishes to wow the patrons of their restaurants.

Our winning Chefs are and in no particular order:
Matt Manning of Grub & Vine in #BreeStreet and Executive Chef Guy Bennett from Gigi Rooftop Restaurant in the Gorgeous George Hotel, both in CT. Then towards the Atlantic is Kyle Knights from The Shop in Sea Point winning an award. Slowing down to #StellenboschWinelands Executive Chef Carolize Coetzee from Tokara Wine Estate, Stellenbosch Tokara Restaurant and another Dynamic #FemaleHeadChef Nicole Loubser from Gåte at Quoin Rock winning awards. Last but not least, @Gustaff Boshoff from The Green GooseEatery took the final WWF South Africa SASSI Seafood Circle Awards. Trailblazer chefs making a way for our future!

Save today so that we can eat tomorrow. Our #planet counts. #Togetherwecan. Plastic is killing our oceans. Overfishing is killing our oceans. Every small change makes a big difference.
